God bless the guy who invented this cell phone and these funny caller tunes. Best way to get away from any imminent potentially conflicting ordeals. I generally use cell phones myself, sometimes as an excuse or rather a mean of dealing with embarrassing situation. Trust me, when you have nothing to say in a meeting, holster out your cell phone and do something on it to make it look like you are the busiest guy on the planet, without you being engaged in what-so-ever you are doing with that gadget of yours in your hand, the very existence of this planet is in danger. It might explode if, even by mistake anybody think you are only acting or mere goofing around.
I still remember the good old times, when cell phones were a necessity for those who used to work off late and commute great distances away from their family. Then a time came, when cell phone expanded its reach and reached to every household in equal numbers with the number of hands who’ve started using their fingers nimbly, which is the current scenario we are living in.
When I joined my college, I was the first guy who had a Nokia 6600, having that kind of phone and that too at a place like Kerala was a prerogative of only chosen few who came from distant lands. It was considered as a luxury at that point of time in the land where people cook there food with the oil, which is being used by the nation for their hair related solutions. But you know it’s never too late for anything. That event marked the advent of ‘Buy latest cell phone revolution’. End result of which is whole college is aware of.
Now days, where every second is registering a new technological advance, it is really difficult to keep up your pace with the ever changing technological standards. One, who manages to change oneself according to the change itself, earns the title of ‘geek’; others on the contrary lines are termed as losers. Any doubt, ask any kid in school about latest Google phone G1, based on android adaptable technology. You’ll understand eventually after tasting the yummy taste of humiliation. But each version of newer technology is in itself is complicated and complex, brings a lot many new changes which are redundant and of no particular use or significance. For example we had, user friendly windows XP, and then came Vista and now windows 7. I don’t see much of the difference except for the price and of course name. Later versions are little bombastic and pompous if you compare them. I hate to contradict myself, but again when we used windows XP, our former generation termed it useless as they used windows NT/95/98/2000, and they pretty much liked them. They reviewed XP as a very complicated and complex tool. My uncle had this DOS based system, which he loved more than his life.
I read somewhere, change is inevitable. It indeed is inevitable. Old folks called themselves Gen X and we Gen Y and now I think it is the time for us to call these small smart asses Gen Z not only because they can use complex and complicated appearing things easily but they are asses with smart grey material on top.
I know I am going to get soooo flamed by my fellow Gen Yians’.
P.S 1. Don’t flame me. Don’t flame me. Don’t flame me.
2. That oil stuff was only to add humor again with the same spirit (Don’t flame me. Don’t flame me. Don’t flame me.)
